About

Ciao, we are Caro & Caro

We’re Carolina & Carola — two German-Italian bike guides with a passion for cycling, great food, and the landscapes of northern Italy.  ciaocycling.cc is our project to share meaningful rides through the regions we know and love.

Based near Lake Garda and Verona, we spend our days scouting trails, guiding tours, and exploring the quiet roads, vineyards, and climbs that make this area so special.

With backgrounds in bike guiding, sport nutrition, and UX, we speak German, Italian, and English — making it easy to connect with cyclists from around the world.

Our goal? To help you experience the real Italy: scenic rides, hidden spots, good coffee, local wine, and the people along the way. Whether it’s a day tour, a cycling camp, or a custom itinerary, we tailor it to your pace, your level, your vibe.

We’re a small, women-led project built on authenticity, local insight, and personal connection.

Let’s ride — and discover the soul of Italy, one pedal stroke at a time.

About us

Carolina Diana Rossi
Founder & Project Partner

Ciao, I’m Carolina Rossi — a certified bike guide based in Verona and the founder of ciaocycling. If you’re dreaming of riding through vineyards, along the shores of Lake Garda, or on quiet gravel roads in Valpolicella, you’re in the right place.

I discovered cycling in 2015 while living in Hamburg. It started with road cycling — I still remember how hard my first climbs around Bardolino felt. Over time, I expanded to gravel riding, drawn to the slower pace, the sense of freedom, and the beauty of off-road exploration.

For me, cycling is not just a sport, but a way to connect with nature, discover new places, and enjoy the little things — like proper coffee stops and good post-ride food. And of course, I love the challenge and the feeling of progress that comes with every ride.

Verona and Lake Garda are home — the roads I ride every week. But I also guide and plan tours in regions I’ve explored for years: the Dolomites, Lake Iseo, Lake Como, Varese, and Lugano.

Beyond guiding, I work as a UX researcher and designer. I’ve helped create digital experiences, brand identities, and websites for businesses and cycling-related projects. This background helps me bring clarity and structure to everything I do — from route design to organizing events and tours.

What I love most about guiding is sharing these places with others — showing riders the hidden routes, the scenic climbs, and the joy of cycling in northern Italy. Whether you’re here for a guided ride, a cycling camp, or a self-guided adventure, I’ll help you find the perfect balance between fun, challenge, and local flavor.

Carola Skarabela
Project Partner

Ciao, I’m Carola Skarabela — and Italy has always felt like home to me. As a child, I spent holidays with my parents in Sardinia and Tuscany. But the defining moment came in 2004, when I worked as a bike guide in Sicily for the first time. That was followed by several months in Perugia — at the same university where my grandmother once studied — and a stay in Calabria.

Back in Munich, the longing for Italy never faded. In 2010, I rented a small holiday apartment on Lake Garda and began commuting between Munich and Italy — until I finally took the leap and moved here full-time.

Cycling has been the constant thread throughout the years. I’ve been riding road bikes since 2002 — and this sport has shaped my life: my friendships, my career, and my biggest passion.

Professionally, I’ve had the chance to live this passion in many ways: nine years as Country Manager at Alé Cycling, as a promoter and brand ambassador for Q36.5, as CMO at Sportbenzin, and through my own agency, SKA Sportconnection, where I manage communication projects, ambassador programs, design, and events. I bring together marketing, graphic design, and sports nutrition with a deep understanding of the cycling scene.

When I met Carolina and she told me about ciaocycling.cc and the road bike and gravel bike camps at Lake Garda, I was immediately convinced: together we could build something truly great.

In short: Italy is my home, cycling is my lifelong companion — and through ciaocycling.cc and our camps and tours, I want to share my passion, my knowledge, and that special feeling of freedom that cycling brings.
